Hans Teuber Trio At Zig Zag February 3, 2026

Zig Zag has some of the best jazz vibes going in the city right now. Low lights, good cocktails, great players on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Tonight was Hans Teuber Trio.

Only caught the first set but it was a good one. Sound at Zig Zag is dialed — no amps, just acoustic, the way these standards wanna be heard. Band was super comfortable with the material, at times sparse and minimal, other times more verbose, filling the room. Drummer kept it simple, brushes mostly, tasteful kit. Didn’t catch his name or the bassist’s.

Teuber mostly on tenor, warm tone, melodic lines that breathed. Every now and then he’d grab the melodica for a different color, which was a nice touch. Setlist was classic stuff: “Sonnymoon for Two,” “Scrapple from the Apple,” “Prelude to a Kiss,” “Cherokee,” even “All the Things You Are.”

Earshot did a nice profile on Teuber a few years back — guy’s been a fixture in the Seattle scene for decades.
