Dandy Cotinez at The Blue Thistle October 5, 2026

Well goddamn Seattle, did you know that on any given Monday both of these options are available to you? Danny Godinez at The Owl and Thistle or Andy Coe at The Blue Moon? Aren’t you so lucky?

If you don’t know these players or scenes, here’s the deal:

Danny Godinez plays with Farko Dosumov on bass and Ron Weinstein on organ. It’s a pretty chill scene at the Thistle, not too many folks, not too loud. You might hear them blaze through “Bright Size Life” or play “I Shall Be Released” – both of which occurred on this past Monday. And invariably you’ll hear Farko sing his solos and blaze on his bass. You’ll hear Ron wail on his organ. You’ll hear Danny make magic on his axe.

Andy Coe has been doing his Grateful Dead cover band for years now, and its still going strong. You’ll be at a place packed with deadheads of all generations, but mostly of the older set. You’ll hear any dead song you can think of, played with love and passion, like “Midnight Moonlight” with the band trading 8s, then 4s, then 2s across the five players including mandolin. Andy will shred with rousing solos or meandering mixolydian jams and he’ll sing his heart out. It’s loud, a little smelly and a helluva goodtime.

How can you go wrong?
