Due North & Rader Creek Bluegrass at Drumlin May 14, 2022

Drumlin now has live music, both inside and out, up in Shoreline. Great spot! On Saturday, caught the last set of Due North, a jazz quartet with trumpet, piano, stand up 3/4 bass and drums. Didn’t catch the players names. Heard the head to “Four” by Miles Davis, played uptempo but with a slightly different arrangement. Didn’t recognize any of the other heads. Overall, sound felt a litte rushed, like the players were still getting to know one another and the tunes. But sounded good! Then, heard bluegrass out back. Lots from the bluegrass fake book, all the classic tunes. A nice time feel by the whole band, the bassist holding it down. Guitarist usually singing lead and the others harmony. Solos were tasteful, tuneful. Nice vibe outside on a warmish spring night, dudes circled around a vintage mic like Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
