Lord Huron started as a project by Benji Schneider, a LA recording artist who drew inspiration from revisiting his home in northern Michigan, naming his band after Lake Huron. His music has a peaceful island feel, using bongos, shakers, and a mandolin to create a scene of relaxation. The song ‘Into the Sun’ even has the sounds of island birds chirping in the background, adding to the scene of isle life. Lord Huron also fits into the indie-folk mold with harmonizing vocals and balanced folk-y guitar work.

Huron has released two EPs: Into the Sun and Mighty. Although Schneider recorded both pieces by himself, it doesn’t sound like it. The songs are layered in sound and deep with feeling as he needed put together a whole band to play with him live. As a whole band they’re just coming into their own, as they’re finishing up an east coast tour and are scheduled to play Lollapalooza over the summer.
