Idle Times shredded at the Rendezvous. Great guitar sound with the SG through a Fender Super with 4 12s, lotta rockin licks, drummer was on his game, bassist being stoic chewing gum and playing with a pick. Guitarist/singer into it. Overall pretty tight, composed, rockin. No drama. Didn’t like the seizure inducing light show that accompanied them but they made up for it with the rock.
Between bands was Alien Lanes which was great – “and the wisdom they will sell us…”
Missed Seapony. Went for a beer outside the performance space (never really liked that about The Rendezvous) and got caught up in some Sinead O’Connor on the jukebox which the whole bar was singing along to.
Fergus and Geronimo headlined. Liked their attitude, not taking themselves too seriously, playing around with genre, having fun. There was an awesome song about Roman numerals. Oh and the song “Where The Walls Are Made Of Grass” was cool. They did a killer Devo cover of “The Girl I Want” – mad props on that. These guys are keeping it fresh and weird. Made me want to listen to Pure Guava.
Adam got some great pics that night:
And here's a video of theirs:
